My name is Dr. Paul Williams, and I am asking for your vote for Island County Fire District One Commissioner (Position 4).

Approximately 85% of the calls received by our fire district are for Emergency Medical Service (EMS). With 35 years as a doctor and business owner, I want to keep our fire district’s EMS program strong and fully staffed.

I also believe our fire district needs to improve communication with its citizens and neighboring emergency service providers. By doing so, it will be more responsive to our community and able to share costs between fire departments.

I was a pediatrician for 12 years before joining the Northwest Asthma and Allergy Center as an allergist in 1991. As a pediatrician I participated in a countywide pre-hospital EMS program.  I received my undergraduate degree from Seattle University and my medical degree from the University of Washington.

In addition to being a doctor, I am a business partner in the clinics where I work. I understand the need to cut spending when times are lean; operate under a balanced budget; and, how to rebuild an organization to be more responsive to its community.

I believe strongly in community service and enjoyed being in Kiwanis and an umpire and a district administrator for Little League for 25 years. I served on the Emergency Operations Center Committee and volunteered for the last EMS levy for our fire district.

Please contact me anytime with questions about my candidacy, and thank you for your vote!
